Robbie and I have avoided areas of active violence since being in Israel, but today since there seemed to be calm, we ventured to observe and pray. Nearly 200 rockets have been fired at Israel’s southern border from Gaza in July that sent many running to the nearest bomb shelters like the one pictured to the left. Fortunately, there has been less activity so far in August. Incendiary devices–fire balloons and kites–have burned nearly 7 square miles around nature reserves and farmland. It has been devastating, but to date, no casualties. God is the keeper of His Land that He has chosen for Himself. In the truest sense, none of it is disputed territory. It all belongs to Him. “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the
mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. …And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me” (Psalm 50:10-12; 15).
